HW-group Perseus Monitoring 145 – Remote monitoring with LTE backup for protection against water leakage
HW-group Perseus Monitoring 145
In data centers, industrial facilities, and telecom sites, unnoticed water leaks can cause expensive downtime. The HW-group Perseus Monitoring 145 delivers a state-of-the-art solution that combines LAN-based monitoring with integrated LTE backup. This ensures that water leakage monitoring and alarms remain active even during network outages – a crucial advantage for critical infrastructures.
The Perseus Monitoring 145 supports up to 1000 variables and integrates a wide range of external sensors. Most importantly, the WLD input supports water detection cables up to 185 m, immediately triggering alarms upon detecting even the smallest liquid amounts – via e-mail, SNMP trap, or through SMS and voice calls using the LTE modem.
With four RJ11 ports for 1-Wire UNI sensors, one RS-485 Modbus/RTU port, four digital inputs for dry contacts, and two relay outputs, it offers comprehensive connectivity. This allows monitoring of not only liquids but also temperature, humidity, voltage, current, or door contacts. Relays can be used for automated control of alarms, pumps, or fans.
With Lua scripting, scheduling, and virtual sensors, the system provides extensive data processing capabilities. Integration with SensDesk Portal or HWg-Cloud expands reporting and analysis, while mobile alarms and monitoring are available via the HWg Monitor App.

Protection Against Water Leakage and Ingress
Via the dedicated WLD input, the Perseus Monitoring 145 instantly reports when conductive liquids such as water or condensation are detected. Typical use cases include leaks from HVAC systems, piping, or under raised floors in data centers. With reusable sensor cables, the solution remains sustainable and cost-efficient. LTE connectivity ensures alarms are still delivered if LAN fails.
Typical Applications
- Data centers & server rooms: monitoring HVAC, power supply, and water infiltration
- Telecom sites: monitoring base stations even during network outages
- Pharma & food industry: HACCP-compliant monitoring with leak protection
- Warehouses & industrial plants: monitoring of power, voltage, and fluid detection
- Technical rooms: protection against burst pipes and flooding
Integration & Software
The open API makes integration into SCADA and IoT platforms straightforward. Using the Meters API, it can also aggregate sensor data from devices such as STE2 R2 or UPS systems for extended alarms. Through SensDesk SaaS or on-premise solutions, users gain PDF reporting, multi-user support, and alarm escalation for critical events.
LTE Backup for Reliability
The built-in LTE module not only supports SMS and voice notifications but also ensures continuous network connectivity in case of LAN outages. This guarantees constant access to SensDesk or cloud portals – a significant benefit for remote or critical monitoring environments.
Mobile Monitoring
With the HWg Monitor app for iOS & Android, administrators can access all data anytime. When water ingress is detected, real-time alerts are sent directly to smartphones.
Versions

Summary
Can the Perseus Monitoring 145 detect water leaks?
Yes, a detection cable (up to 185 m) can be connected via the WLD port. Even the smallest amounts of liquid are detected and immediately reported.
How are alarms handled if the LAN connection fails?
Thanks to the integrated LTE modem, alarms are still delivered via SMS or voice calls. The connection to the SensDesk portal also remains active through LTE.
What security mechanisms are integrated?
The Perseus 145 supports HTTPS, Radius authentication, IPv6, and SNMPv3. This ensures secure data transmission even in sensitive networks.
