HW-group Perseus Monitoring 155 – 19-inch rack solution with LTE backup for protection against water leakage
HW-group Perseus Monitoring 155
Water ingress is among the greatest threats to data centers, server rooms, and industrial facilities. Even small leaks can damage hardware, interrupt processes, or cause immense costs. The HW-group Perseus Monitoring 155 provides reliable water leakage detection combined with comprehensive environmental monitoring – with additional LTE backup for maximum security.
The device supports up to 100 sensors with 1000 variables. Via 8 RJ11 ports, temperature, humidity, voltage, and current sensors can be connected, while RS-485 Modbus/RTU also supports third-party metering devices. For water leak protection, a dedicated WLD port allows connection of water detection cables up to 185 meters in length.
Upon detecting liquid, the system instantly triggers alarms – via e-mail, SNMP trap, or SMS/voice through the LTE modem. This ensures constant reporting even during LAN outages. In addition, 16 digital inputs for dry contacts and 4 relay outputs provide flexible options for automatically controlling external systems such as pumps, fans, or sirens.
With Lua scripting, scheduling, and virtual sensors, the Perseus 155 enables complex data analysis. Integration with the SensDesk portal or HWg-Cloud offers extended alarm features, PDF reports, and multi-user management – supported by real-time mobile monitoring with the HWg Monitor App.

Protection Against Water Leakage
Using the WLD cable system, the Perseus Monitoring 155 reliably alerts when even the smallest amounts of liquid are detected. This makes it ideal for raised floors, air conditioning systems, or cold chain monitoring. Alerts are sent in real time, with optional relay-triggered actions to activate external safety systems.
Typical Applications
- Data centers: full environmental monitoring with water leak detection and climate protection
- Server rooms: early detection of pipe breaks and moisture ingress
- Telecom: ensuring operation continuity with LAN + LTE monitoring
- Industrial facilities: integration with power, voltage, and liquid detection systems
- Building automation: smart building integration with WLD and relay control
Integration & Software
With open interfaces (SNMP, Modbus/TCP, MQTT, XML), the Perseus Monitoring 155 integrates smoothly into SCADA and IoT environments. The Meters API extends functionality by aggregating sensor data from other HWg or third-party devices for advanced alarm automation.
LTE Backup & SMS Gateway
The integrated LTE modem not only provides SMS/voice alarms but also works as an SMS gateway for other HWg devices. This ensures reliable alarm delivery and portal connectivity even during LAN outages.
Mobile Monitoring
Through the HWg Monitor App (iOS & Android), administrators have real-time access to sensor data, water leakage alarms, and site overviews – even via LTE.
Versions
- Perseus Monitoring 155: base version in 19” rack format, LTE modem included, without accessories
- Perseus Monitoring 155 TSet: starter kit including power adapter, LTE antenna, and IP67 temperature sensor (3 m)
Summary
How does the Perseus Monitoring 155 detect water leaks?
A sensor cable is connected via the WLD port. With lengths up to 185 m, the system detects conductive liquids and immediately triggers an alarm.
How does alarm notification work during a LAN outage?
The integrated LTE connectivity ensures continued SMS, voice call, and portal access. This guarantees water protection even in case of network failures.
Is the Perseus Monitoring 155 suitable for data centers?
Yes, its rack-mountable design, large sensor capacity, and LTE redundancy make it especially suitable for data centers.
